DECEMBER 6 - CYRENNE PLACES 7TH AT ABIERTO MEXICANO

Helody Cyrenne placed seventh in a field of eight at this year's Abierto Mexicano Invitational in Acapulco, MEX.

DECEMBER 6 - BLACK WINS SILVER AT GLASGOW GRAND PRIX

Ellie Black finished off her 2014 competitive season with a brilliant second place finish in Glasgow! Next up for Ellie is likely the American Cup, the third in the World Cup A series after DTB Cup and Glasgow Grand Prix.

NOVEMBER 30 - BLACK PLACES 7th AT DTB CUP

It was an "off" day for Ellie Black in Stuttgart, Germany today at the DTB Cup. She placed 7th in a field of 8. Next up for Ellie is the Glasgow Grand Prix.

NOVEMBER 30 - SOLOSKI SILVER AT TOP GYM

Junior Sydney Soloski won silver in the all-around at this weekend's prestigous Top Gym competition, and picked up another two medals in the apparatus finals (silver on beam and bronze on floor). Earlier she and teammate Sydney Laird competed alongside Hungary, winning a mixed team medal.

OCTOBER - BLACK FINISHES 7TH ON BEAM AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

It was a disappointing beam final in Nanning today, with half of the competitors falling. Unfortunately, that included Ellie Black, who found herself in seventh place at the end of the competition.

OCTOBER 10 - BLACK FINISHES 9TH AA AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Ellie Black finished 9th AA at World Championships today, the best ever finish for a Canadian woman in the all-around, besting Victoria Moors' 10th place finish the year prior. Black's 9th place finish ties Adam Wong's finish at the 2006 World Championships, best ever finish for a Canadian male in the all-around.

Black is the only Canadian to advance to a final at these World Championships. In addition to the all-around final, she will compete in the beam final. Watch Ellie's beam from qualifications:

Earlier, the Canadian women finished a disappointing 12th in team qualifications.

SEPTEMBER 11 - CATHERINE DION NAMED ASSISTANT COACH AT UIC

Former UIC gymnast Catherine Dion will return to the women's gymnastics program at UIC this season at the assistant coach position. Dion returns following a decorated senior campaign, where she earned the title of NCAA Regional Gymnast of the Year as well as MIC Senior and Gymnast of the year.

Dion is a former member of Canada's National team.


AUGUST 24 - TOWNSEND PLACES 12TH AA AT YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES

Sydney Townsend placed 12th all-around at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, an improvement on her qualifying position, of 13th place. She also placed 7th in the floor exercise, her lone apparatus final.

MAY 31 - TOWNSEND QUALIFIES TO YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES

Sydney Townsend has qualified to this summer's Youth Olympic Games, in Nanjing, China. Open to junior gymnasts born in 1999, this is the second time these summer Youth Olympic Games have been held. The inaugural games were held in Singapore.

In October, Nanning, China (not to be confused with Nanjing, China!) plays host to the World Championships.
